Beyond Barriers: Above the Net

The Beyond Series welcomed in the four Road 2 Tampa Bay Volleyball Invitational head coaches for an exclusive panel session with NCAA Director of Championships, Kristen Fasbender. Check out Georgia Tech's Michelle Collier, Penn State's Katie Schumacher-Cawley, USF's Jolene Shepardson, and Florida's Mary Wise as they discussed the state of the sport of #volleyball in front of over 100 women and volleyball influencers.

Tampa Bay Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Title IX

The Tampa Bay Sports Commission and TV personality Ryan Bass went behind the scenes at June's 50th-anniversary celebration of Title IX at Amalie Arena. Ryan spoke with Tampa Bay Title IX Trailblazers and other special guests to get their opinions of the impact of the legislation. The night featured a sneak peek of ESPN Films’ “37 Words,” a 4-part documentary series, chronicling the hard-fought battle for equal rights in education and athletics from award-winning directors Dawn Porter and Nicole Newnham, as well as a keynote from City of Tampa Mayor, Jane Castor and a dynamic discussion with Kimberly Davis, Senior Executive Vice President at National Hockey League, Sue Moucha, a Four-time Team USA Paralympia, and Shaniya Benjamin a Track and Field Student-Athlete at the University of South Florida. ESPN personality and softball Hall of Famer, Michele Smith moderated the evening.

The Beyond the Baseline Series recently celebrated its 10th anniversary at the NCAA Women's Final Four. Initially implemented during the 2008 Women's Final Four, the series has gone on to impact major local events and has event become a staple of Women's Final Four programming.

Beyond Barriers: Because of Title IX Highlights

On February 6, guests of all ages gathered for Beyond Barriers - Because of Title IX at Amalie Arena. Held at Amalie Arena, the event featured a lineup of incredible speakers each with extensive backgrounds in sports and at the top of their game in their respective professions. The event also coincided with the 33rd celebration of National Girls & Women in Sports Day, a nationally recognized day honoring the extraordinary achievements of girls and women in sports.
