The Bob Martinez Athletics Center

The Bob Martinez Athletics Center, named for the UT alumnus who served as Mayor of Tampa, Governor of Florida and President Bush’s cabinet level Drug Czar, was opened in July 1984. The main gymnasium houses three full size courts with permanent seating for 3,432 to view the main court. It also includes training room, weight room, six locker rooms, classrooms and offices for the athletic and physical education departments.
Located on the edge of campus, the Athletic Center is home to many University of Tampa athletic programs including volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball. Martinez’s state of the art locker rooms house all 421 student athletes that compete on 20 different University of Tampa NCAA Division II athletic programs.
The University of Tampa has hosted many NCAA events, like the 2015 DII Women's Volleyball finals and semifinals which took place at Bob Martinez Athletic Center. Tampa Bay recieved a bid to host this event once again at Martinez in 2021.
Directions to the Martinez Athletics Center: From Interstate 275, exit at Ashley Street/Downtown West. You are now on Ashley St. Turn right at the first traffic light, Tyler. Tyler merges into Cass as you cross the Cass Street Bridge. Turn left at the next light North Boulevard and find the Martinez Center on the right. From Kennedy Boulevard (Route 60), turn north onto North Boulevard, travel three blocks and the Sports Center is on the left.
