Director of Sales and Events
On October 1, 2010, Tony Diaz joined the Tampa Bay Sports Commission staff as the new Sales and Events Coordinator. Four years later (October 1, 2014), Tony was promoted to Sales and Events Manager and in 2019 was elevated to Director of Sales and Events. Tony assists with the coordination of the commission’s direct sales efforts in attracting as well as organizing sports and entertainment events of all sizes on behalf of the community. Tony also coordinates many of the commission’s local youth sports programming, which includes annual youth-centric and/or scholarship-exposure-generating events for prospective student-athletes in the Hillsborough County region.
Most recently, Diaz had the opportunity to serve as the Vice President of Operations for the Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Host Committee for Super Bowl LV in February 2021.
Before joining the Tampa Bay Sports Commission, Tony was an intern in the Special Events and Team Operations department with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2009-2010 season. Tony graduated from the University of Central Florida in May of 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a minor in Sports Business Management.
While in school, he worked with the UCF Athletic Association from 2007-2010 where he assisted with the game-day operation and management of all home sporting events. Tony also was the Promotions Coordinator with the Orlando Predators during their 2010 season, where he helped oversee the execution of all game-day promotions as well as coordinated season-long sponsor promotions and related needs.
Diaz obtained his Master's Degree in Business Administration in 2018 from Florida International University.
