The November edition of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission e-newsletter features Team Tampa Bay's big win as the area was awarded four signature NCAA events, including a return of the NCAA Women's Final Four and NCAA Men's Frozen Four.

Additionally, Tampa Bay is now less than 100 days away from Super Bowl LV, and the host committee is seeking additional Community Ambassadors to join and assist the team during Super Bowl LV week! Additionally, the Rays, Lightning and other host committee personalities headline the latest editions of the Tampa Bay 55 podcast. On the Business Connect front, be sure to save the date for "Road to Gameday" Restaurant Week which is set to begin on December 4 and will run through December 13. On the Event Development Institute front, the team is excited to help announce the new title sponsor for the 2020 Gasparilla Bowl. On the Youth and Amateur events side, the Tampa Bay Sports Commission continues to see a return to play as the destination prepares to welcome in the Brine Ambassador Cup and AHAF's 49th Annual Thanksgiving Horse Show.

NCAA Selects Tampa Bay to Host Four Signature Division I Events

On Wednesday, October 14, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced that Tampa Bay has been selected as the host site of four major NCAA Championships, which includes the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Frozen Four, 2023 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship, 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Final Four and 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball First and Second Rounds.

In 2023, Tampa Bay will have the unique opportunity to host the Men’s Frozen Four and Women’s Volleyball Championship in the same calendar year, both at Amalie Arena. This marks Tampa Bay’s third time hosting the Men’s Frozen Four (2012, 2016) and second time hosting the Women’s Volleyball Championship (2009)

Register to be a Super Bowl LV Community Ambassador! Deadline is Nov. 28

The deadline to register for the Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Community Ambassador program is November 28! The goal of the Community Ambassador Program is to display a high level of customer service to those visiting our area, leaving a lasting impact that will be remembered past our lifetime. The host committee, as well as the NFL, will rely heavily on volunteer and community support to help execute and elevate the overall event, and will offer a large variety of volunteer shifts.

The Tampa Bay region is well-known for hosting world-class sporting and entertainment events. All of which are made possible by the consistent support from our local Community Ambassadors eager to volunteer their time to ensure the success of each event. This dedication is illustrated most recently with the rave reviews from the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship, the 2018 NHL All-Star Weekend, and the 2019 NCAA Women’s Final Four.

"Road to Gameday" Restaurant Week Save the Date

In celebration of Super Bowl LV, the Business Connect program is hosting a one-of-a-kind restaurant week beginning December 4. “Road to Gameday” Restaurant Week will highlight 40 diverse-owned restaurants from across Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco County.

“Road to Gameday” Restaurant Week is our commitment to supporting the needs of our community. A portion of the proceeds from “Road to Gameday” Restaurant Week ($1 per meal) will be donated to Feeding Tampa Bay in support of the fight against hunger in Tampa Bay.

UNION HOME MORTGAGE NAMED NEW TITLE SPONSOR FOR GASPARILLA BOWL

ESPN Events, a division of ESPN, has announced Union Home Mortgage as the new title sponsor for the Gasparilla Bowl, an annual college football postseason game played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa (Fla.). Beginning with this year’s game, the bowl will now be known as the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl. The multi-year title sponsorship with Union Home Mortgage was brokered by Denver-based Impression Sports & Entertainment.

“We are excited to begin this journey with Union Home Mortgage as our two organizations have a very similar approach to how we operate,” said Scott Glaser, Executive Director of the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl. “Leadership at Union Home Mortgage made it very clear that they always strive to create a culture that demonstrates mutual respect for everyone along with a deep desire to be world-class. This is no different than how we attack every day at our bowl. I can’t wait to get started!”

TBSC Volunteer Opportunities

The goals of the TBSC volunteer program are to provide an enthusiastic and warm welcome to guests visiting the area, provide information to visitors, and contribute to the general atmosphere of excitement surrounding the event. We work hard to ensure that our events are a tremendous success for the student-athletes, community and fans.
