Tampa Bay Selected to Host 2027 NCAA Division II and III Women’s Lacrosse National Championships
Tampa Bay Sports Commission and University of Tampa Partner to Host 2027 Championships
TAMPA, FL - On Wednesday, October 2, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced that Tampa Bay has been selected as the host site for the NCAA Division II and Division II Women’s Lacrosse National Championships in 2027.
In 2018, Tampa Bay’s inaugural women’s lacrosse championship hosting effort, saw Le Moyne take home the crown as they upended Florida Southern in the national title match. It will also mark the first time our community hosts the Division III championship.
The University of Tampa (UT) will serve as the host institution for the championships, with action emanating from the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex on the UT campus.
Tampa Bay, fresh off hosting the 2023 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four and the 2023 Women’s Volleyball Championships, is currently preparing to host its record-setting fourth NCAA Women’s Final Four in April 2025. Tampa Bay has welcomed more fans in Women’s Final Four history than any other city, with a combined 123,039 fans attending in 2008, 2015, and 2019.
Finally, in 2026, Amalie Arena will play host to the NCAA Men’s First and Second Rounds as part of the March Madness festivities.
“Our community takes a tremendous amount of pride in hosting NCAA Championships,” said Rob Higgins, Executive Director at the Tampa Bay Sports Commission. “We’re always aiming to raise the bar in tandem with our partners at the NCAA to provide the ultimate experience for the student-athletes, coaches, and fans that are visiting our community.
Official dates for the DII and DIII women’s lacrosse championships will be announced at a later time.
