Tampa Bay Lightning to Host 'Go Green Night' on Thursday
Replay Tampa Bay to Collect Sports Equipment on Ford Thunder Alley Prior to Game
TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning will host ‘Go Green Night’, presented by Pro-Shred, Coca-Cola, and TECO Energy, to encourage fitness and environmental awareness tomorrow night when the Lightning take on the New York Islanders at 7:30 p.m. at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
The Lightning will also be hosting a special bike giveaway on Ford Thunder Alley prior to their game on Thursday. Rob Elder of Elder Automotive Group and the Tampa Bay Sports Commission partnered to introduce Replay Tampa Bay and they will be giving away 50 new bikes and helmets to under privileged children at 6:15 p.m. on Ford Thunder Alley. Children from Resources In Community Hope (R.I.C.H. Houses) and the Police Athletic League (P.A.L.) will be beneficiaries of the new bicycles. Fans are encouraged to bring and donate new and used sports equipment prior to the Lightning/Islanders game so the items can be repurposed for underprivileged youth in the Tampa Bay area.
Through the Replay Tampa Bay program, members of the Tampa Bay community are encouraged to help local kids in need by donating new or gently used sporting goods. More than 1,500 sports items have been collected since the initiative began in 2011.
The Lightning’s team mascot, ThunderBug, will be wearing a green jersey to help promote the evening’s festivities. Throughout the game, there will be environmentally friendly messaging on LightningVision, as well as recycling ambassadors throughout the concourses. Select concession stands will be offering healthy, sustainable and organic food options. 1,000 fans attending Thursday’s game will be given tree seedlings as they exit the game.
