Home of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning, Amalie Arena is the jewel of downtown Tampa. Lightning owner Jeff Vinik recently transformed the facility with a $62 million renovation; new features include state-of-the-art technology and innovative design, which combine to make it one of the finest facilities in North America. In addition to NHL hockey, Amalie Arena is one of the busiest arenas in the country, hosting more than 150 events annually. The innovative design of Amalie Arena provides 19,092 seats for NHL games, 20,500 seats for basketball games and up to 21,500 seats for concerts and center stage events. The building boasts 80 luxury suites known as “Super Suites” and 69 executive suites (20 lower level and 49 upper level), as well as a newly renovated, open-air box office. Amalie Arena served as host of many NCAA events, like the NCAA Men’s Frozen Four in 2012, and again in 2016. They also hosted the Women's Final Four in 2008, 2015 and will host again in 2019. A large number of NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament games have also been played at Amalie over the years. The first and second round games will return to Amalie in 2020, as well as the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament in 2022. Other events occasionally held at Amalie include University of South Florida basketball games, additional NCAA Tournament games and professional wrestling. Recently in 2018, Amalie Arena hosted the NHL All Star Weekend, Hockey Day in Tampa Bay, and a long list of other performances and concerts. In 2019 the arena will serve as the location for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2019 Warrior Games. Additional facility highlights include, 670,000 sq. ft. of usable space, five meeting rooms total (two rooms that hold 50 people each, two rooms that hold 175 people each; 350 together and one meeting/conference room that holds 50-75 people). It also includes 1,500 parking spaces in the South Regional Parking Garage (located on the west side of the arena), 10,000 spaces within walking distance, 37 restrooms, 22 concession stands, two First Aid Stations, eight escalators and four elevators. Finally, some signature areas Amalie has to offer include the Coors Light Between the Pipes Bar, Ford Thunder Alley, World of Beer, and the Budweiser Biergarten. The Budweiser Biergarten located on the 300-level terrace offers 10,000 square feet of gorgeous, unobstructed views of downtown Tampa. In addition to the views, the deck has five concession stands and beverage bars available to all arena guests. |
