Senior Director, Event Development Institute
Katie Kicklighter joined the Tampa Bay Sports Commission (TBSC) in April 2024 as Senior Director of the Event Development Institute (EDI). In this role, Katie leads the TBSC’s in-house event and marketing division that specializes in growing new and existing events and brands nationwide.
Formerly the Director of Partner Events & Hospitality at U.S. Ski & Snowboard (2021-24), Katie brings with her valuable experience in creating one-of-a-kind events for commercial and philanthropic partners. Her responsibilities included developing the strategy and overseeing the production of the organization’s signature annual fundraising events as well as hosting hospitality programs at competitions around the globe.
Before her stint in snow sports, Katie worked in various roles as the Manager of Hospitality & Events for the Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Host Committee, Assistant Tournament Manager for the 2019 Women’s Final Four Local Organizing Committee, and as a Graduate Resident for the TBSC. These positions kickstarted her passion for connecting communities through sport and provided the opportunity to lead social and legacy programs including sustainability and the Women's Final Four Read to the Final Four program. Katie also serves as the Membership Chair for the Women in Sports & Events (WISE) Tampa Bay chapter.
Katie is a graduate of the University of South Florida’s Vinik Sport and Entertainment Management Program with a Master’s in Business Administration and a Master’s in Sport & Entertainment Management. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University where she competed as a member of the swim team and qualified for Olympic Trials in the 50 freestyle. She also holds two school records as part of the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays. Katie resides in Tampa, FL.

The University of South Florida and the Tampa Bay Sports Commission will serve as co-hosts for the event at Amalie Arena, with two national semifinal contests played on April 4, while the national championship game will be played Sunday, April 6.

During Gasparilla Bowl week festivities, the TBSC and the Replay Tampa Bay initiative, teamed with the Bowl, Fanatics and WWE Global Ambassador, Titus O'Neil, to celebrate the Bowl's Community Day at Sligh Middle Magnet School. The #ReplayTampaBay distribution event helped put 200 new footballs back into the hands of our local youth as we continue to Help Keep Kids in the Game!
