Team Tampa Bay Comes Together to Assist Joey JohnstonThe Tampa Bay Sports Commission, along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Lightning, Rays, Rowdies and University of South Florida have teamed up to host a two week, community-wide “Team Tampa Bay for Joey J 50-50 Raffle” to assist with the financial medical needs of 15 year old Joey Johnston, the son of legendary Tampa Bay sports writer, Joey Johnston. The raffle begn on Monday, August 13, and will conclude Monday, August 27, with the winner drawn on August 28. The raffle raises funds for the benefit of the Johnston Family to assist in offsetting anticipated medical, personal and household expenses resulting from injuries he sustained in a tragic accident on July 8, 2018. Kickoff Series Continues with USA-Colombia On Oct.11 at Raymond James Stadium in TampaThe next stop of the fall Kickoff Series will take place in Tampa on Oct. 11 when the U.S. Men’s National Team hosts 16th-ranked Colombia at Raymond James Stadium. FS1, UniMas and UDN will broadcast the match live beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. Colombia will be the fifth team in the Top 20 of the FIFA World Rankings to face the MNT in the Kickoff Series, joining Brazil, England, Italy and Mexico. The six-match set will provide the aspiring young U.S. side with top-level competition at the start of their four-year journey toward the 2022 World Cup. The remaining opponent for October will be finalized in the near future. The MNT returns to Tampa following the 3-2 win against Martinique in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Overall, the USA holds a lifetime record of 4-1-1 at Raymond James Stadium. Nine different U.S. players have put their name on the scoresheet in those matches, including two individual multi-goal games (Landon Donovan, Jordan Morris) and three scored by defenders (Carlos Bocanegra, Clarence Goodson, Omar Gonzalez). |

NAGAAA Gay Softball World Series Comes to Tampa Bay This SeptemberFor the first time in NAGAAA’s 42-year history, Tampa Bay will host the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance’s (NAGAAA) 2018 Gay Softball World Series (GSWS) from Sept. 3rd-8th and will showcase our region in ways that will leave a lasting impression and create treasured memories for all involved. We call on the support of the entire Greater Tampa Bay Community to host thousands of participants that will take part in the 2018 GSWS. Tampa Bay Sports Commission, Hillsborough County Host 11th Annual Volleyball Combine
The Tampa Bay Sports Commission, in partnership with Hillsborough County and Under Armour, hosted the 11th Annual Tampa Bay Volleyball Combine at the University of Tampa’s Bob Martinez Athletics Center on Thursday, July 19. The event is designed to create exposure opportunities for high school student-athletes aspiring to play at the next level. A record-setting number of participants, ranging from freshmen to seniors, competed in drills, measurements and simulated matches in front of college and university volleyball coaches. Breaking: East Coast Spring Training Showcase to Remain in Tampa
CollClubSports is proud to announce that they have renewed their agreement with the Tampa Bay Sports Commission for the 2019 East Coast Spring Training Showcase event to remain in Plant City, Florida at Mike E. Sansone Community Park and surrounding fields. “The [TBSC] is excited to once again welcome back the National Federation of Collegiate Club Sports Leagues. Their 2019 National Club Baseball and Softball Spring Training Showcase will mark the 14th consecutive year the event has been hosted in Tampa Bay.
