August 24, 2020
TAMPA, FL – During the last weekend in July, 215 IFBB Professional League competitors took the stage at the 13th Annual Wings of Strength IFBB Professional League Yamamoto Nutrition Cup Tampa Pro & NPC Tim Gardner Tampa Extravaganza National Qualifier at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay.
In accordance with local and international COVID-19 protocols, competitors from six nations (typically 40+) and 33 states converged on the hotel in the area’s first physique competition since March. Additionally, 367 amateur entrants crossed the very same stage to stake claim to their national qualifying status.
Highlighted by a series of physique preliminaries, entrants performed in attempts to earn a spot in the finals to collect the ever-important Olympia points.
The four-day event, the industry's first competition since the Arnold Classic in March, finished on a high note as both the NPC Tampa Extravaganza and Tampa Pro crowned a series of competition champions“.
It was a blessing in so many ways for this show to be completed,” said Tim Gardner, NPC Chairman/IFBB Professional League Head Judge. “A celebratory reopening of the bodybuilding and fitness industry, the athletes, fans and officials were elated to finally get the action stirred up onstage again. It was an honor to fly the IFBB Professional League & NPC banner for President, Jim Manion & Vice-President, Tyler Manion.”
