Tampa, Fla. – (September 4, 2019) – In just over 500 days the Tampa Bay community will come together to host its fifth Super Bowl. On Wednesday from Raymond James Stadium, the Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Host Committee officially kicked off its local hosting efforts by unveiling the host committee logo as well as providing critical updates from Host Committee leadership.
The press conference also announced the public launch of TampaBayLV.com, a landing page for interested community ambassadors that have an interest in future Super Bowl Host Committee volunteer opportunities and as well as local business/corporation partnership opportunities. The full site will be unveiled at a later date.
“We can’t wait to show the world again how much Team Tampa Bay loves the Super Bowl,” said Rob Higgins, CEO of the Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Host Committee. “This is an incredible opportunity to show how far we’ve come since the last time we hosted the Super Bowl in 2009 as well as how far we’re about to go with our community’s exciting next chapter in future years that follow. Together, Team Tampa Bay is going to roll up our sleeves and create memories that will last a lifetime for all involved.”
The Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Host Committee is chaired by a Hall of Fame cast, including former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hall of Fame Linebacker, Derrick Brooks, former Florida House of Representatives member, Will Weatherford, and Tampa Bay Sports Commission Executive Director, Rob Higgins.
A series of community partners have also contributed to the successful launch of the Host Committee, including the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County, Visit Tampa Bay, Tampa Sports Authority, the Tampa Bay Sports Commission, the Florida Sports Foundation and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“Global events such as the Super Bowl provide opportunities for Tampa Bay to showcase our region,” said Bryan Glazer, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Owner/Co-Chairman. “Darcie and I are thrilled to represent our family and the entire Buccaneers organization as members of the Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Host Committee. The Tampa Bay area has a long and distinguished history when it comes to hosting Super Bowls, and we look forward to working with our community leaders on both sides of the bay over the coming months to ensure that Super Bowl LV is our best event yet.”
2021 will mark the third time since opening in 1997 that Raymond James Stadium will host a Super Bowl (2001, 2009). The former Tampa Stadium also hosted a pair of memorable Super Bowls in 1984 and 1991.
“We couldn’t be more excited to host Super Bowl LV,” said Derrick Brooks, Co-Chairman of the Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Host Committee. “From the day it was announced, we’ve been laser-focused on creating an unforgettable Super Bowl experience for the teams, fans, and our local community. Added Will Weatherford, Co-Chairman of the Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Host Committee: “We’re thrilled with how our region is already rallying together for Super Bowl LV. Each time we’ve had the honor of hosting this prestigious event, we’ve found new and unique ways to enhance the experience for all involved and that wouldn’t happen without the tremendous support of both the private and public sectors. Thank you to all of our community partners for helping prepare our hometown for its opportunity to shine on the biggest of stages.”
