Records Fall at NCAA Division I Track and Field East Preliminary
Relive Tampa Bay’s First-Ever East Preliminary
TAMPA, FL - The 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary kept spectators enticed throughout the weekend as a total of 27 USF Track and Field Stadium records fell throughout the three day competition (May 24-26). The top-12 qualifiers from from each preliminary secured a spot in June's Outdoor National Championship in Eugene, Oregon.
The University of South Florida and the Tampa Bay Sports Commission teammed to host the East Preliminary for the first time, an event that featured over 1,700 athletes from over 170 schools.
Florida State’s Andre Ewers highlighted the entire meet as he ran a 2018 NCAA-best 9.98 in the 100m. That time was also good enough for second-fastest in the entire world for this year.
