CONCACAF Unveils Tampa Bay Gold Cup Matches
U.S. Men's National Team to Take on Martinique at Raymond James Stadium
MIAMI, FL - The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) announced today the group stage matches and schedule for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Tampa Bay and Raymond James Stadium will host Group B matches on July 12 with a doubleheader slate headlined by the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT). The USMNT will take on Martinique, while Panama prepares for Nicaragua.
Today’s event, that included soccer and city dignitaries as well as representatives and head coaches from the qualified nations, took place at Levi’s Stadium, host venue of the Gold Cup final, to be played on July 26. Featuring U.S. national team legend Cobi Jones, remarks by CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani, San Francisco 49ers President Al Guido, San Jose Earthquakes President Dave Kaval, and conducted by CONCACAF General Secretary Philippe Moggio, the event revealed the path to the regional championship for each of the 12 nations participating in this July’s competition.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have this incredible soccer championship coming through Tampa Bay for a second time,” said Rob Higgins, Executive Director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission. Our community is genuinely passionate and excited about soccer and we know that will be evident again this July at Raymond James Stadium.
2017 CONCACAF Group B sites include: Tampa (Raymond James Stadium), Nashville (Nissan Stadium), Cleveland (FirstEnergy Stadium) and will feature the national teams from the United States, Panama, Martinique, Haiti/Nicaragua.
“With the groups now determined, we have a full look at the schedule of Gold Cup matches to be played this July,” said CONCACAF General Secretary Philippe Moggio. “With so many exciting matches set to take place in great stadiums from coast to coast, culminating at Levi’s Stadium on July 26, it’s going to be an exciting summer of football for fans across the region.”

This will mark the second Gold Cup to be hosted in Tampa Bay and Raymond James Stadium since 2011.
The 2017 Gold Cup will once again feature the USMNT as they will meet Martinique. In their only other previous matchup, the USMNT defeated Martinique, a 2-0 win in 2003 (Foxborough Gold Cup). Panama is also back in Tampa Bay for second time as they prepare to face-off with either Nicaragua or Haiti.
