2011 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament
The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament is returned to Tampa in 2011. The St. Pete Times Forum was awarded first- and second-round games for March 17 and 19, 2011. Early round NCAA Tournament games were held in Tampa in 2008, and the venue quickly became the talk of the tournament after producing a full-day of first-round upsets, including Western Kentucky's buzzer-beating overtime upset of Drake. The Forum also hosted early round men's tournament games in 2003.
Celmson vs West Virginia
Clemson's determination to overcome fatigue was no match for West Virginia's fresh legs.
Playing their second game in just over 36 hours, the 12th-seeded Tigers built an early double-digit lead before falling 84-76 to the fifth-seeded Mountaineers in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday.
Princeton vs Kentucky
Brandon Knight missed his first seven shots and even found himself on the bench in the final minute against Princeton.
His confidence could have been shaken. His ego could have been bruised. After all, he was a freshman playing in his first NCAA tournament game.
Then again, Knight's no ordinary newcomer.
Held scoreless for more than 39 minutes, Knight made a driving layup with 2 seconds remaining to lift No. 4 seed Kentucky to a 59-57 win over 13th-seeded Princeton on Thursday.
West Virginia vs Kentucky
Less than 48 hours after his only basket helped the fourth-seeded Wildcats survive their tourney opener against Princeton, Brandon Knight led an 11-0 run coming out of halftime and made six free throws in the final minute to close out a 71-63 victory over fifth-seeded West Virginia.
